Multidisciplinary Information Research Symposium 2018

Theme: “Knowledge Rediscovery and Lifelong Learning”

Jointly Organized by UNT College of Information, UNT ASIS&T Student Chapter, and KIPA

Thursday, April 26, Denton, Texas.

Submissions are now being accepted for a one-day research symposium co-hosted by the College of Information, UNT ASIS&T chapter, and KIPA, to showcase the research efforts of information schoars and practicioners. The event will be inclusive of workshops, sessions for ongoing and completed papers, and a competition for dissertation presentations.** The Linda Schamber Best Paper Award will be awarded for the best research paper and an award will be given for the best dissertation presentation.

The symposium has been generously funded by KIPA, with no cost to the attendees or participants.

Scholars and practicioners at all levels are encouraged to submit their research, keeping in mind that the prompt is “Knowledge Rediscovery and Lifelong Learning,” which is inclusive but not limited to information science, linguistics, learning technologies, digital humanities, data science and analytics, and computer science. 

Follow the link to register for the event, as well as to submit your research, no later than March 16th, 2018.

Please submit abstracts of your work, limited to 250 words (not inclusive of title or keywords), and note the category of your work: workshops, ongoing and completed research papers, or dissertation presentation competition. Notifications of accepted submissions will be made the following week, no later than March 23rd. 

**The dissertation presentation competition will be styled similar to TedTalks, giving each participant 10 minutes to present their work with visual aids. This option is open to PhD students who have taken their qualifying exams, but have not yet defended their dissertation, a chance to practice for their dissertation proposal and/ or defense.
